9月2日下午，外语系大学英语读写组举行了秋季学期第一次教学会议。会议集中讨论了小组在即将到来的新学年中的教学计划。团队成员都踊跃发表个人见解。

   读写团队负责人丁菲菲老师为团队介绍了新学期教学计划，给各位教师分配了教学任务，并与大家讨论了在期中和期末考试中需要详细制定的计划以及一些必要的准备工作。教师们也就多种问题分享了看法，如教学材料的选择，写作课教学方法、机器阅卷结果分析和使用等。会议就期中和期末考试题型和难度等问题达成了共识。

   读写组定期安排和组织团队教学活动，以促进团队内部沟通，并使得团队成员能够互相交流和分享能够改进和提高教学效果的好的想法和提议。集体备课是加强教学团队建设的有效途径，教学团队集体备课能够有效利用团队力量提高教学质量。

Reading and Writing Team Holds First Meeting of Semester

The Reading and Writing Team held its first meeting of the Fall 2018 semester on Sept. 2 under the joint chairmanship of the outgoing team leader, Mr. Xu Shouping, and the new leader, Ms. Ding Feifei. The discussion of the meeting focused on teaching plans for the coming academic year and on individual insights from team members.

Ms. Ding outlined for the team the teaching plans for the new semester, assigned work to individual faculty members, and discussed specific schedules and necessary prep work that will need to be done regarding the mid-term and final exams.

Faculty members also shared their insights on various issues, such as the selection of teaching materials, the pedagogy in teaching writing, the use of machine technology in grading student essays, and difficulty level and question types of the mid-term and final exams.

The Reading and Writing Team schedules group activities regularly in order to promote communication within the team and for team members to exchange useful ideas and suggestions. Current pedagogical thinking views the creation of teaching teams to be an especially effective way to help students develop their reading and writing skills in English, which has been proven to be the case at the Foreign Languages Department of USTC in recent years.
